La Cenerentola in the courtyard

It is now a good tradition: the Opera Classica Europa is again a guest at the castle with a classic opera production.

This time the fairy tale opera ‘La Cenerentola’ (the Cinderella) by Gioachino Rossini is coming on Friday, August 7th. as well as on Saturday, August 8th, 2020, beginning at 7:30 p.m., Comes to Braunfels. You can look forward to a romantic open-air evening in the picturesque castle Courtyard!

Visitors can expect an opera experience with internationally known soloists, an opera choir, a well-known orchestra, romantic lighting and historical costumes. Director Michael Vaccaro is particularly looking forward to the new production in Braunfels, because once again the place fits perfectly. The plot of ‘La Cenerentola’ is based on the fairy tale ‘Cinderella’ by the Brothers Grimm. The opera is about a prince, who is on the bridal show. Through his servant, he has the candidates in question checked in advance. The prince finally falls in love with the inconspicuous Cinderella, suppressed by the stepsisters. Although in contrast to the fairy tale there is no bad stepmother, but only a poor noble stepfather and the lost shoe is replaced by a bracelet in the opera, the parallels are unmistakable. As in a fairy tale, good wins in the end and the hoped-for happy end comes.

The romantic and soulful plot, combined with Gioachino Rossini’s wonderful music, has touched and inspired visitors since its premiere in 1817 in the Teatro Valle in Rome. Opera fans should therefore make a note of the dates on August 7th or 8th, 2020 at Braunfels Castle. Tickets are available inadvance at or from Braunfelser Kur-GmbH, Tel. 06442 93440 or via mail »
