Take a trip to the Munzenberg Castle, 40 km away! The mighty Romanesque castle ruins can be seen from afar. In the Middle Ages, it served to secure the imperial power in the Wetterau. It is popularly known as the “Wetterau inkwell” because of its round keep. A detour to the Cistercian monastery in Arnsburg near Lich, 7 km away, is worthwhile from Münzenberg Castle.
Tip: If you present an admission ticket (normal price) from Braunfels Castle at the Munzenberg Castle ticket office, you will receive a discount on the normal entrance price – and vice versa (one-off, double discounts are excluded).
