… is actually a birthday present
On July 29, 1847 on exactly the 40th anniversary of Princess Ottilie, the Knights’ Hall was festively opened in Braunfels Castle. For her husband Prince Ferdinand (1797 – 1873) a very special birthday gift was succeeded, which also could form the festive setting for the birthday party.
1847 the Knight’s Hall might has looked like this. The painting was probably painted by Johannes Deiker. It shows Ferdinand in armor and Ottilie in the Knight’s Hall, which does not look much different today.
